Ambassadors Program

Meet the Campus Ambassadors

COVID Safe Campus Ambassadors are members of a cross campus network of student advocates leading mutual aid efforts and implementing ground-level disability justice informed peer support, advocacy, and educational initiatives on their campuses to promote COVID safety and disability inclusion in higher education.

​

This semester, we will be distributing thousands of high-filtration masks to help students upgrade their protection and encourage community care.

Abby L. (she/her)

Syracuse University

Abby is a third-year Ph.D. student at Syracuse University. Abby joined the Campus Ambassador Program to increase campus access to masks while pursuing networks of care within and beyond the campus community. In addition to serving as a CSC Campus Ambassador, Abby studies the intersections of materialist rhetorics, feminist ethics, writing studies, and disability studies, teaches undergraduate writing courses, and mentors graduate writing TAs in her role as an Assistant Director of Teacher Education.

Northeastern University*

Abigail is a sophmore biology student at Northeastern University. Abigail joined the Campus Ambassador Program to keep the community safe. In addition to serving as a CSC Campus Ambassador, Abigail, serves as a student athlete.

Alex M. (she/they)

Northeastern University*

Alex is a CSC Campus Ambassador at Northeastern University, focusing on mask and test distribution as well as policy advocacy. Alex studies History, Culture, and Law and organizes in solidarity with campus labor. She is particularly interested in COVID as a labor justice and disability justice issue. They are a firm believer in freely giving people the information and resources they need to stay alive and fight for a better world.

Anita Kwok, B.A. (she/her)

Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College

Anita is a second-year M.S.W. concentrating in Community Organizing, Planning, and Development student at the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College. Anita joined the Campus Ambassador Program to engage with and establish meaningful connections with students who value COVID safety as a foundation for collective community care and to provide COVID-related education resources to her community. In addition to serving as a CSC Campus Ambassador, Anita likes to rant about gentrification, displacement, and a myriad of other topics.

Annika Williams, BMus (she/her)

McGill University

Annika is a first year musicology MA student at McGill University. Annika joined the Campus Ambassador Program to advocate for more accessible campuses and increased access to high quality masks for everyone. In addition to serving as a CSC Campus Ambassador, Annika is a singer, musicologist, and chaotic neurodivergent human with some form of new project always on the mind.

August Trepanier (they/he/elle)

Purdue University

August is a senior in the cultural Anthropology and American Studies B.A. programs at Purdue University. August joined the Campus Ambassador Program to gain disabled community and improve activism around masking and inclusivity at Purdue. In addition to serving as a CSC Campus Ambassador, August serves as the founder and Activism Committee Chair of the Disabled Student Union at Purdue. They are also involved in Purdue Student Government's Disability Ad Hoc Committee and the Public Health oriented Sexual Health Research Lab at Purdue.

Blessing Akum Audu, B.S.

University of Illinois at Chicago

Blessing is a Second year Public Health Graduate Student WITH concentration in Environmental and Occupational Health Science at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Blessing joined the Campus Ambassador Program to minimize the spread of the corona virus through increased masking. In addition to serving as a CSC Campus Ambassador, Blessing, serves as the Treasurer, Public Health Student Association 2023-2024 at her institution and Volunteers with the UI Health and the American Red Cross.

Britni C. Buell (she/her)

University of Texas at Austin

Britni is a third-year B.A. student studying History, Rhetoric, and Feminist Queer Crip Theory at the University of Texas at Austin. Britni joined the Campus Ambassador Program to create a safe and inclusive environment for other disabled, mad, or chronically-ill students and faculty. By centering interdependence and cross-movement solidarity rooted in an intersectional framework, she hopes to motivate and educate her community to engender disability and transformational justice principles in their everyday lives. In addition to serving as a CSC Campus Ambassador, Britni educates and mobilizes voters throughout any given year while dedicating her free time to reading, writing, painting, and resting.

Cat LaCourse, B.S. (she/her)

Johns Hopkins University*

Cat is a sixth-year Ph.D. student in Cellular and Molecular Medicine at Johns Hopkins University. Cat joined the Campus Ambassador Program to improve community safety by making high-quality masks more accessible. In addition to serving as a CSC Campus Ambassador, Cat serves on the Contract Action Team and Disabled Students Working Group of the graduate student union TRU-UE.

Caylah D. (they/she)

Portland Community College

Caylah is a second year student at Portland Community College. Caylah joined the Campus Ambassador Program to improve overall campus safety by increasing access to masking. In addition to serving as a CSC Campus Ambassador, Caylah serves as a Sustainability and Basic Needs Student Ambassador and holds active memberships in the Disability Cultural Alliance, Black Student Union, Habitat Restoration Team and Delta Alpha Pi honor society.

Celeste Tooth (they/them)

Maryland Institute College of Art

Celeste Tooth is a senior interdisciplinary sculpture BFA major with a humanistic studies minor in gender studies and a visual arts minor in illustration at Maryland Institute College of Art. Tooth joined the campus ambassador program because they believe that educational institutes should be safe and accessible for all students. In addition to serving as a CSC Ambassador, Tooth is a Diversity Coordinator for MICA's Office of Culture and Identity, a France Merrick Fellow, and a curator. They are a recent Transform Mid-Atlantic Civic Fellowship (TMACF) alum.

Cornelius Hecker (he/him)

University of Colorado Denver

Cornelius is a Psychology student at the University of Colorado Denver. Cornelius joined the Campus Ambassador Program to help protect and show solidarity with high risk students and faulty. In addition to serving as a CSC Campus Ambassador, Cornelius, serves as a founding member of the Auraria Cross-Disability Alliance.

Felix Spaniol (they/she)

Lawrence University

Felix is a fourth-year B.A. of Environmental Science student at Lawrence University. They joined the Campus Ambassador Program to help keep their campus safer for disabled and non-disabled students alike. In addition to serving as a CSC Campus Ambassador, Felix is co-chair of the Lawrence University Disability Working Group (LUDWiG), plays clarinet and bass clarinet in Symphonic Band, and works in the campus garden when they have the time and spoons.

Hazel J. Anderson, B.S. (she/her/hers)

Michigan State University

Hazel Anderson is a third-year Ph.D. student at Michigan State University. Hazel joined the Campus Ambassador Program to educate people on actions they can take to protect themselves and their community against COVID-19. In addition to serving as a CSC Campus Ambassador, Hazel is active in science communication with the MSU Science Festival.

Jackie Torres is a returning first-year student at the Bard Microcollege for Just Community Leadership in Harlem. Jackie joined the Campus Ambassador Program to protect themselves and their fellow students, while also hoping to share knowledge and tools they can all bring back to their respective communities.

Boston University*

Jeannette is a second year clinical MSW student studying at Boston University. Jeannette joined the Campus Ambassador Program to improve access to masking in her campus university and to raise awareness that COVID still exists. Jeannette has also recently become involved with Boston Liberation Health.

Jessica Hester (she/her)

Johns Hopkins University*

Jessica is a 3rd-year PhD student in the history of medicine at Johns Hopkins University. Jessica joined the Campus Ambassador Program to lobby to make campus safer and more inclusive for everyone, and especially chronically ill and disabled students, faculty, and community members.

Joey Tepper, BFA (they/them)

Malcolm X College Continuing Education Program

Joey Tepper is a continuing education student at Malcolm X College, in pursuit of a future graduate degree in Occupational Therapy. Joey joined the Campus Ambassador Program to advocate for access for all students within a continuing global pandemic. In addition to serving as a CSC Campus Ambassador, Joey works as a Harm Reduction Coordinator, peer supporter, and Overdose Prevention trainer. They are also a trained abortion doula. Joey loves to watch wrestling, crochet, buy clothes for their dog, and cook for their family and friends.

Carnegie Mellon University

Karina is a first-year Ph.D. student in Language and Information Technologies at Carnegie Mellon University. Karina joined the Campus Ambassador Program to improve public health messaging and collective safety through mask-wearing and distribution. In addition to serving as a CSC Campus Ambassador, Karina is an avid dancer, choreographer, theater technician, and arts administrator.

Kyle J. Horn, S.M. (he/him)

Massachusetts Institute of Technology*

Kyle is a third-year Ph.D. student at MIT in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and joined the Campus Ambassador Program to provide equitable access to PPE in his campus community. In addition to serving as a CSC Campus Ambassador, Kyle plays an active role in his community through the MIT Graduate Student Union and Disabled@MIT student organization.

Pace University

Lani Boschulte is a Senior theatre student at Pace University. Lani joined the Campus Ambassador Program to create safer spaces on campus and teach others about what they can do to keep themselves and others safe.

Latitude Brown (they/them)

University of Michigan

Latitude is a first-year master's student at the University of Michigan School of Information. Latitude joined the Campus Ambassador Program to help educate about Covid and fight misinformation. In addition to serving as a CSC Campus Ambassador, Latitude enjoys reading, planning art heists, and riding the bus.

Mahum Rahman (she/her)

University of Illinois at Chicago

Mahum is a third-year B.S student at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Mahum joined the Campus Ambassador Program to improve health outcomes and increase awareness of disability justice. In addition to serving as a CSC Campus Ambassador, Mahum serves as a writer for the schools health affiliated journal and is an active member of UNICEF and The Women's Health Initiative.

University of Minnesota Rochester

Margaret is a fourth-year B.S. of Health Sciences (Pre-med) student at the University of Minnesota Rochester. Margaret joined the Campus Ambassador Program to advocate for the use of high-quality masks in response to the ongoing pandemic. She is also a healthcare worker who is passionate about patient safety and well-being. Outside of work and school, Margaret enjoys songwriting and spending time with her family.

Maria Ziegelbauer (they/them)

University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee

Maria is a third-year B.F.A student studying Studio Arts with a dual focus in Jewelry/Metalsmithing and Printmaking/Book Arts at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Maria joined the Campus Ambassador Program to provide accessible information to students, faculty, and surrounding communities and join a network of disability justice advocates in order to make sure everyone has their access needs met by institutions like colligate universities. In addition to serving as a CSC Campus Ambassador, Maria is involved with the student organization for ceramic arts and spends their free time reading, drawing, doing miscellaneous research deep dives, and playing on their Nintendo Switch.

Melina List (they/them)

Emerson College

Melina List is a junior B.A interdisciplinary studies student at Emerson College. Melina joined the Campus Ambassador Program to increase Covid awareness and safety on their campus.. In addition to serving as a CSC Campus Ambassador, Melina serves as the Co-President of Access: SDU, Emerson's student disability union, the Editor in Chief of Generic literary Magazine and is currently curing their first batch of garden grown onions.

Nic C, B.A. (he/they)

Rutgers University

Nic is a first year M.A. student studying Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Rutgers University. Nic joined the Campus Ambassador Program to educate people on the steps they can take to protect themselves and others are the pandemic continues globally, and promote disability justice and collaborative action. In addition to serving as a CSC Campus Ambassador, Nic, is a published poet, visual artist, and dancer.

Nicole is a B.A. student at Smith College. She joined the Campus Ambassador Program to make her community safer and more aware about COVID's effects on the body.

Nikita Williams, M.A. (she/her)

UNC Charlotte

Nikita is a second-year Ph.D. student at UNC Charlotte. Nikita joined the Campus Ambassador Program to promote disability justice in academia and solidarity with individuals most affected by COVID. In addition to serving as a CSC Campus Ambassador, Nikita serves as an organizer for Charlotte Mask Bloc.

Renata Muñoz (he/they)

Haverford College

Renata is a third-year B.A. Anthropology major and Health Studies minor student at Haverford College. Renata is excited to join the Campus Ambassador Program for another semester where he plans to continue fighting for community care and resist the normalization of COVID infection through the principles of Disability Justice. In addition to serving as a CSC Campus Ambassador, Renata serves as a co-leader of Disability Advocacy for Students at Haverford (DASH) and a co-head of their school's abolitionist group, Students for Abolition, Liberation, and Transformation (SALT).

Sarah Kington (she/her)

Tulane University

Sarah is a Ph.D. student in sociology at Tulane University studying the political economy of health, and critical disability justice. Sarah joined the Campus Ambassador Program to connect with other students who value disability justice, to help make campus more accessible for disabled/chronically ill students, staff, and faculty, and to raise awareness about disability justice issues, especially as they relate to COVID policies and practices.

Sophia Irene Chapman (she/her)

George Brown College

Sophia is a second-year diploma student in the General Arts & Science Program at George Brown College. Sophia joined the Campus Ambassador Program to increase awareness of the importance of masking and access to resources for students. In addition to serving as a CSC Campus Ambassador, Sophia volunteers with TTCRiders, a transit advocacy organization in Toronto working to improve public transportation.

Tenley Nordstrom, B.A. (they/she)

San Diego State University

Tenley is a third-year MSW/MPH student at San Diego State University. Tenley joined the Campus Ambassador Program because they value life and want to do everything they can to ensure their community has the basics to stay safe. In addition to serving as CSC Ambassador, Tenley works alongside foster youth in the therapeutic garden they established together.

Vanessa Sun (she/her)

Massachusetts Institute of Technology*

Vanessa is a second-year PhD student in the Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Vanessa joined the Campus Ambassador Program to help make her school a more COVID safe place.
